What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is a way of delivering IT services such as Network, storage, Database, software, and more … through web-based tools and applications rather than a direct connection to a server.

The cloud can be public or private. A public cloud sells services to anyone on
the internet whereas a private cloud is a proprietary network or a data
center that supplies hosted services to the limited number of people with
certain access and permissions.

Cloud computing works by allowing client devices to access data over the
internet, from the servers and databases. The internet connects the front
end such as client device, browser, and network with the back end such as
databases and servers.

Communication between the front and back end is
managed by a central server. The central server acts as a mediator over
an exchange of data.

One of the best examples is Google Docs and Microsoft Office. Users can
access Google Docs and MS office through the internet.

Ex: Traditional Computing:

For suppose if you want to set up a Datacenter for your company, we need below things. (This is also known as an on-premise data center)

1. Place to setup DC,

2.Network devices (routers, switches, racks, firewalls, cables…)

3. Redundant Power supply,

4. Air conditioners,

5. Sever hardware,

6. Operating systems,

7.Applications,

8. Storage,

9. Security,

10. DR – business continuity plan

11. Capital expenses.

  Managed DC:

DC will be owned and managed by 3rd party Host the servers in their DCs

LAN / VPN connectivity between our offices to Managed DC

All benefits of DC along with Infra administration

No Capital Expenses required

Before Cloud Technology, we have a virtualization concept for on-premise Data centers, using Vcenter servers we manage all virtual servers.

  Virtualization

  • Host multiple VMs on top of the same physical server
  • Better utilization of Hardware resources
  • Cost
  • Better uptime
  • Faster deployment of resources
  • Energy Savings
  • Hypervisor Ex: VMWARE, Hyper-V

Advantages of Cloud computing:

Cost: No on-premise Infrastructure setup is required, because of this Capital Expense and setup of buying Hardware & software are reduced.

Performance: Biggest cloud computing services run on a worldwide network of regularly upgraded and secure data centers, which reduces network latencies

Scalability: Benefits of cloud services include the ability to scale power, storage, and bandwidth anywhere around the globe.

Speed: Cloud providers can provision computing resources on-demand and within minutes for flexibility in the usage of services.

Disaster recovery: Using this option we can save the server configuration and its data from from Natural Disasters

We have different cloud providers in the market ex: AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud, Oracle….etc
